Anniversary Saber Set - 50 Years WKC Limited Edition
The history of the company Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cie in Solingen begins in the Middle Ages when one of the first trademarks of its kind for swords, the so-called "King's Head", was registered by the blacksmith Johannes Wundes in 1560.
This trademark was later taken over by Weyersberg. Together with the Kirschbaum family trademark, the "knight's helmet" from 1854, the two brands became W.K. & Cie became world famous in 1883. As the largest company in Solingen, W.K. & Cie. in 1900 exquisite parade weapons for home and abroad as well as bayonets, bicycles and motorcycle parts. Production was stopped after the bombing of Solingen on November 4th and 5th, 1944.
On November 17, 1955, the knife manufacturer Hans Kolping and his partner Margard Willms took over the company W.K.C. and after investing in its own damascene shop and forge, it was possible to win back customers for the company. In March 1956 the first parade sabers left production.
A little later, the company W.K.C. again orders from all over the world. This anniversary saber commemorates the resumption of production and the unprecedented commitment of Hans Kolping, Margard Willms and all employees of the company, which is being released in a limited edition of only 100 pieces worldwide. Tradition needs symbols, signs and ceremonies. They cannot replace the inner values of tradition, but they can refer to them and ensure their contemporary preservation.
